Today, I would like to tell you about the latest film
that I have been watched recently. This is the American movie “Concussion”,
this film is based on the true story. This film presents the doctor, the
pathologist Bennet Omalu who is from Nigeria and he lives in the USA. When he
was a child, he wanted to be an American citizen. At the same time, Mike
Webster, an American football player, who was in very bad conditions, he was
devastated, sad, frustrated, he was destroying himself etc. One day, he
died. Bennet Omalu conducted the autopsy
of Mike Webster, and he was very surprised why young men died and why his body was
very devastated? Omalu decided to conserve his brain and examine more. But his
work place didn’t have enough money to do it and Omalu paid all his own saved
money.
But, the similar cases appeared, next professionals
American football players who were young, went crazy, they couldn’t sleep, they
were very aggressive and finally they committed suicide. Omalu found a new disease typical of the
boxers and of professional American football players. He called it chronic
traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). It is a disease caused by head injuries during
matches and one can diagnoses it after death. Even
helmet doesn’t protect the brain in 100%. Omalu wanted to disclose it, but he
and his wife were in danger, because the National Football League wanted
withhold it, because as far as the large sum of money is concerned. But finally
everything ended well, Omalu became an Amercinan citizen and the National
Football League admitted that Omalu was right.
