live at home or in the student dorm

These days, universities are located in big cities. Many of young people who live in small towns or in the country arrive to big cities to continue their education after secondary school. While some students who come from big cities stay at home while studying at university, others live alone or with their friends, but without their parents. Each of these choices has advantages and disadvantages. In my essay first I would like to present advantages of living at the family home while studying at university, next I am going to move on to disadvantages of it, and finally I am going to give my own opinion.
The main advantage of living at home is a price. When we live at our family home we don’t need to pay for renting. This is very important argument. We can buy something or save up, for example for a trip.
Secondly, when you live at home, you can always count on your family, for instance, in the case of sickness, your mother or sister will buy you medication and prepare something to eat, while living alone, you would have to ask someone for help. Obviously, family helps you with pleasure, while friends may not have time to do it. Moreover, at home you always find something to eat, mother washes yours cloths and family understands that you must study and at the moment you can’t clean, because you have to study for an exam.
One very convincing argument in favour of living at home is the fact that in case of sadness you aren’t alone. You can talk to your family, spend the free of studying evening with them and even have a quarrel.
Besides, learning at home may be more effective and more pleasant than at student dorm. You can study where you want and you don’t disturb anybody and no one doesn’t disturbs you. At home, you have the most important thing necessary for studying: peace. At student dorm, you haven’t got any influence on what your roommates do.
Despite the arguments in favour of living at home, there are arguments against it. When you live without yours parents you must rely on yourself, so you learn responsibility. What is more, you learn to manage with different housework, such as: washing, cleaning, cooking. Not only prepare you yourself for adult life, but you also learn to economize. You must manage your money to pay the bills. If you spend too much money on party you will have to resign from something in order to buy food. Living alone you deal with real life.
Secondly, if you live at home, you haven’t got freedom, because parents always control you. Parents want to know where you go, when you come back, with whom you go, etc. They worry about you and in spite of your age, they treat you as a child. It’s normal, but this is the cause of constant conflicts between you and your parents. This may ruin your close relationships.
To conclude, there are pros and cons of living at home while studying at university. Everyone has his own reason, but in my opinion it is better to live outside family home, because then we learn life and we become independent and responsible.
